Two huge bedrooms on the front and rear of the parlor floor have an additional small room between them, usable as storage/walk-in closet and accessible by two sets of French doors. On the top floor is the third bedroom (or living room) with attached pass-through full bath with tub/shower, and a dining/living room which expands into the open kitchen/dining area.
This Victorian-era home features some original detail such as crown mouldings, high ceilings with original medallions, and built-in foldable shutters. Antique light fixtures, refinished original hardwood floors in every room, large closets, and two marble fireplaces (nonfunctional) add to the atmosphere. The unit was recently restored and renovated with care, largely with sustainable materials and green building practices. Windows have dedicated outlets for renter-provided AC units. The homeowner lives in the separate ground-floor apartment and tries to be responsive about resolving any maintenance issues.
The master bedroom and kitchen overlooks the homeowner’s well-maintained private garden and neighboring trees. Steam radiators provide heat to the whole building in colder months. Homeowner and renters typically help each other out by taking in package deliveries if one of us is home. A locked bin-storage area out front keeps trash and recycling out of sight, and past tenants have helped out by moving their own bagged collections items from the outdoor bins to the curb once a week on collections day. Street parking is free, with street cleaning scheduled by the DSNY once a week.
Located on a quiet tree-lined block in South Slope/Park Slope, this lovely apartment lies in a vibrant neighborhood, home to many restaurants, cafes, bars, grocers, and shops on 5th Avenue. Good coffee, pastries and empanadas are a few doors up on the same block, and new spots to eat and drink are regularly opening up shop. Located less than two blocks from the 4th Ave/9th St station (F/G/R trains), making for a quick commute to Manhattan — as well as direct access to North Brooklyn and Queens. Not far from the Park Slope Food Coop as well as the Whole Foods in Gowanus. Beautiful Prospect Park is a few blocks away, with its vast meadows, bike loop, forest trails, and ball fields.
